HEIC to JPG
iPhones save photographs as HEIC files, which many computers and websites will not open. Turn them into ordinary JPGs here, as many as you like at once, without sending your photos anywhere.

What is a HEIC file?
HEIC stands for High Efficiency Image Container. Apple made it the standard format for iPhone photographs in 2017, because it can store a photograph in around half the space of a JPG at similar quality.
The difficulty is that it is not universally understood. Some Windows computers need an extra download to open it, and many websites and forms refuse HEIC uploads. JPG, by contrast, opens everywhere.
Why convert here rather than on a typical converter site?
Most converter websites upload your photographs to their computers, convert them there and send them back. Your photos then sit on somebody else's machine, at least for a while.
This page does the conversion inside your own browser. You can prove it: load the page, switch off your internet connection, and it will still convert your photos.
Location and other hidden details
iPhone photographs usually record where they were taken. The JPGs made here do not carry those hidden details across, which is worth knowing if you are sharing pictures publicly.
Stopping your iPhone saving HEIC
If you would rather your iPhone saved JPGs in the first place, open Settings, then Camera, then Formats, and choose Most Compatible. Photos will take more space on the phone.
Questions
Will I lose quality converting HEIC to JPG?
Very little at the default quality of 90. JPG files are larger than HEIC for the same picture, so expect the converted files to take more space.
Can I convert Live Photos?
The still photograph converts. The moving part of a Live Photo is stored separately and is not included.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The work happens inside your web browser, on your own device. You can check: once this page has loaded, switch off your internet connection and it will still work. The page also tells your browser to refuse to load anything from, or send anything to, any other website, so nothing can be sent elsewhere even by accident.
