Crop image
Cut a picture down to the part you want, freely or to a set shape such as a square for a profile picture. The original stays at full quality, and nothing leaves your device.
How to use it
- Choose your picture, or drag it onto the box.
- Drag the box to the part you want, and use the corner handles to resize it. Pick a shape if you need one.
- Press Save cropped image.
Choosing a shape
Square suits profile pictures and many social posts. 4:3 and 3:2 match most camera photographs. 16:9 matches widescreen displays and video thumbnails. 4:5 and 9:16 are tall shapes for phone screens, stories and portrait posts.
Full quality
The crop is taken from your original picture at full resolution, not from the smaller preview on screen. If you then need the result at a particular size, use the image resizer.
Questions
Can I crop with the keyboard?
Yes. Select the crop box with the Tab key and move it with the arrow keys; hold Shift to move it further.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The work happens inside your web browser, on your own device. You can check: once this page has loaded, switch off your internet connection and it will still work. The page also tells your browser to refuse to load anything from, or send anything to, any other website, so nothing can be sent elsewhere even by accident.
